Shipping policy
Shipping & Delivery Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This Shipping & Delivery Policy applies to orders placed through www.idcards.ie .
idcards.ie is operated by Bool Technologies Limited. Throughout this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to idcards.ie and Bool Technologies Limited.
1. Delivery areas
We currently deliver to addresses in the Republic of Ireland.
Delivery to Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom, the European Union or other international locations may be available by quotation. Please contact us before placing an order if you require delivery outside the Republic of Ireland.
2. Shipping and handling charges
Shipping and handling charges are calculated automatically and shown at checkout before you complete your order.
The applicable charge may be based on:
- the value of the products in your order;
- the combined shipping weight of the products;
- the type of products ordered;
- whether products are assigned to different shipping categories;
- the size or specialist delivery requirements of the order.
All product prices and shipping and handling charges displayed on idcards.ie are shown excluding VAT, unless stated otherwise. VAT will be added at the applicable rate during checkout.
Price-based shipping thresholds are normally calculated using the value of the relevant products after any discounts and before VAT.
3. Standard products: value-based shipping and handling
Most standard products are charged according to the value of the relevant products in the order.
| Order value excluding VAT | Checkout delivery method | Charge excluding VAT |
|---|---|---|
| €0.00 to €199.99 | Small Order Delivery & Handling | €39.95 |
| €200.00 to €999.99 | Standard Delivery & Handling | €29.95 |
| €1,000.00 to €1,699.99 | Discounted Delivery | €19.95 |
| €1,700.00 and above | Free Delivery | Free |
4. Cards, holders, lanyards and other weight-based products
Certain products, including cards, card holders, lanyards and some bulk consumables, are relatively heavy in comparison with their value. Shipping and handling charges for these products are therefore calculated using their combined shipping weight.
The following weight-based charges normally apply where the qualifying product subtotal is below €1,700 excluding VAT:
| Combined shipping weight | Shipping and handling charge excluding VAT |
|---|---|
| 0kg to 2kg | €39.95 |
| 2.01kg to 5kg | €49.95 |
| 5.01kg to 7.5kg | €59.95 |
| 7.51kg to 10kg | €69.95 |
| 10.01kg to 15kg | €89.95 |
| 15.01kg to 20kg | €109.95 |
| 20.01kg to 30kg | €149.95 |
| 30.01kg to 40kg | €189.95 |
| 40.01kg to 50kg | €224.95 |
| 50.01kg to 75kg | €319.95 |
| Over 75kg | €400.00 |
Free delivery is available where the qualifying subtotal of products within this shipping category reaches €1,700 excluding VAT.
The product weight used at checkout is the shipping weight recorded against each product or product variant. The combined weight may include an allowance for packaging where applicable.
5. Orders containing products from different shipping categories
Some products are assigned to different shipping categories because their delivery costs are calculated differently.
Where an order contains products from more than one shipping category, the applicable shipping and handling charges may be combined at checkout. This may occur, for example, where an order contains both weight-based products and products charged according to order value.
Free delivery thresholds may be assessed separately against the qualifying subtotal within each shipping category. As a result, an order with a total value above €1,700 may not always qualify for free delivery where the order contains products from multiple shipping categories.
The final shipping and handling charge will always be displayed at checkout before payment is completed.
6. Why lower-value orders have higher shipping and handling charges
Many of the specialist products sold through idcards.ie are sourced from manufacturers and authorised distributors outside Ireland. Some products are held in stock, while others are ordered specifically to fulfil a customer order.
Regardless of the value of an order, we may incur fixed costs associated with supplying it, including:
- inbound distributor or supplier delivery charges;
- international courier charges;
- customs clearance and import processing fees;
- packaging and order preparation;
- administration and handling;
- onward delivery within Ireland.
These costs can be broadly similar for a small order and a much larger order. They therefore represent a significantly greater proportion of the total cost of a lower-value order.
The higher shipping and handling rates on lower-value orders allow us to continue supplying specialist products in small quantities without adding the full fixed delivery and handling cost to the price of every individual product.
Shipping and handling charges reduce as the value of an order increases because fixed costs can be spread across a larger order.
The shipping and handling charge is not solely the cost of the final parcel journey to the delivery address. It may also contribute towards reasonable inbound supplier delivery, customs processing, packaging, administration and fulfilment costs associated with supplying the order.
7. Large, heavy or specialist orders
Large, unusually heavy, oversized or specialist items may be subject to a separate delivery charge. This may include:
- card printers;
- laminators;
- printer accessories;
- bulk quantities of cards or consumables;
- items requiring specialist, insured or pallet delivery.
Where a different delivery charge applies, it will normally be shown at checkout.
In some cases, particularly for pallet deliveries or unusually large orders, we may contact you with a delivery quotation before processing the order.
8. Order processing times
Orders are processed during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, excluding Irish public holidays.
Where items are in stock, we normally aim to dispatch orders within 1–2 working days.
Orders placed after our daily cut-off time, at weekends or on public holidays will normally be processed on the next working day.
Some products may be:
- supplied to order;
- shipped directly from an authorised distributor;
- transferred from an external warehouse;
- subject to manufacturer or distributor availability.
Where this applies, the order may take longer to process. We will contact you where we become aware of a material delay.
9. Estimated delivery times
The delivery services shown at checkout are normally estimated at 5–8 business days.
This estimate normally applies after the order is ready for dispatch. Products that are supplied to order, transferred from an external warehouse or sourced from a distributor may have an additional processing or supplier lead time.
Where a product page states a specific lead time, that product-specific lead time should be taken into account in addition to the estimated courier delivery period.
Delivery times are estimates only and may vary due to:
- product availability;
- supplier or manufacturer lead times;
- customs clearance;
- courier schedules;
- weather conditions;
- seasonal demand;
- delivery address issues;
- circumstances outside our reasonable control.
If a delivery date is essential, please contact us before placing your order so that we can confirm whether your required date is achievable.
10. Back-orders and unavailable items
If an item is out of stock or becomes unavailable after you place your order, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.
We may offer you one or more of the following options:
- wait for the item to become available;
- accept a suitable alternative product;
- receive a partial shipment where practical;
- cancel the affected item or order and receive a refund.
We will not substitute a product without your agreement.
Where a customer requests that an order be split into multiple deliveries, an additional shipping and handling charge may apply.
11. Delivery method
Orders are normally delivered by courier or parcel delivery service.
A signature may be required on delivery, particularly for:
- card printers;
- high-value items;
- tracked or insured deliveries;
- business, school, college or public-sector deliveries.
For security reasons, we may not be able to deliver certain products to PO boxes, parcel lockers or unattended addresses.
Some orders may be delivered directly from one of our authorised suppliers or distributors. Bool Technologies Limited remains the seller responsible for the order.
Customers should not normally be required to pay additional import charges directly to a courier unless this has been expressly agreed with us in advance.
12. Delivery address
You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address, including an Eircode where available.
We are not responsible for delays or failed deliveries caused by incorrect, incomplete or inaccessible delivery details supplied during checkout.
Please ensure that:
- the business or organisation name is correct;
- the delivery address is complete;
- the Eircode is provided where available;
- a suitable contact name and telephone number are supplied;
- somebody is available to accept the delivery where a signature is required.
If an order is returned because of an incorrect address, refused delivery, failed delivery attempt or non-collection, we may contact you to arrange re-delivery. Additional delivery and handling charges may apply.
13. Failed delivery attempts
If a courier is unable to complete delivery, they may leave instructions or contact you to arrange re-delivery or collection.
Please follow the courier’s instructions promptly.
If an order is returned to us following failed delivery attempts or non-collection, we will contact you to arrange the next steps.
Any re-delivery charge will normally reflect the reasonable cost of sending the order again and may differ from the original subsidised shipping rate.
14. Risk and responsibility for goods
For consumer orders, the goods remain our responsibility until they are delivered to you or to a person nominated by you to receive them.
If your order is damaged, lost or missing in transit, please contact us. We will work with the delivery provider or supplier to investigate and resolve the issue.
For business orders, risk and delivery responsibility may also be governed by any quotation, purchase order, credit account or project-specific terms agreed between the parties.
15. Damaged deliveries
Please inspect your delivery as soon as possible after receipt.
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours where possible and include:
- your order number;
- photographs of the external packaging;
- photographs of the internal packaging;
- photographs of the damaged product;
- details of any missing items.
Please retain the product and all packaging until we confirm whether they are required for inspection or return.
Providing this information helps us resolve the issue quickly with the courier or supplier. This does not affect your statutory rights.
16. Missing or incomplete orders
If an item is missing from your delivery, please contact us as soon as possible.
Some orders may be shipped:
- in more than one parcel;
- on different dates;
- from more than one location;
- directly from an authorised supplier or distributor.
We will confirm whether the missing item is due to arrive separately or whether further action is required.
17. Delayed delivery
If your order is delayed, please contact us and we will investigate.
Where we have agreed a specific delivery date and fail to deliver by that date, you may have the right to cancel the order and receive a refund, depending on the circumstances and whether you are purchasing as a consumer or business.
Where no specific delivery date has been agreed, consumer goods should be delivered without undue delay and normally no later than 30 days from the date of the order, unless another delivery period has been agreed.
Products manufactured, configured or ordered specifically for a customer may be subject to a separately agreed lead time.
18. Collection
Collection is not available unless agreed with us in advance.
Where collection is agreed, we will contact you when the order is ready and provide collection instructions.
Shipping and handling charges may not automatically be removed where the product has already incurred inbound supplier, import, processing or special-order costs.
Any adjustment must be agreed with us before the order is placed.
19. Business orders
Where you are purchasing on behalf of a business, school, college, public body or other organisation, additional terms may apply, including:
- quotation terms;
- purchase order requirements;
- credit account terms;
- project-specific delivery arrangements;
- direct-to-site delivery;
- staged or partial delivery;
- specialist installation or commissioning requirements.
Shipping and handling charges stated in an accepted quotation or contract will take precedence over the standard website rates.
Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights where you are acting as a consumer.
